Enjoy my interview with Jo Marsom, an Ovarian Cancer survivor for the past three years, joining me from Greensboro.

Jo is a delightful and positive person, with a contagious energy that encourages us to enjoy life, be grateful, and savor the moments with those you love!

BIO:

Jo was born on the Fort Benning military base in 1954. Her father was a pilot; he flew helicopters and fixed-wing planes. They lived in many different places, including Italy. Jo went to eleven different schools, and believes that is where she developed her extroverted nature. She attended Auburn University for both her B.A. and M.A. in English. She has taught at Auburn University, Kent State University, and Itawamba Junior College.

Jo married her husband Phil in 1977. He worked for Blue Bell/ VF for many years, and they have lived in seven different states and Honduras. She has always enjoyed reading and belongs to four book clubs. She also collects vintage children’s books.

Jo and her husband like to hike and travel. They have hiked the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland, Hadrian’s Wall in England, and Cinque Terre in Italy. In the United States, they have hiked 200 miles on the Appalachian Trail and the Grand Canyon seven times (on various different trails) and taken two rafting trips on the Colorado River through the Canyon. Jo and her husband are planning to go to New Zealand in 2027 when she reaches the five-year mark of surviving cancer.
